Weare a 3-bed Adult Progressive Care Unit attached to a32 bed medical surgical unit 

 

4West Inpatient Surgery is a collaborative unit that cares for complex surgicalpatients. Home to thoracic, vascular, kidney transplant and general surgerypatients (typically either laparoscopic or major abdominal procedures), thepopulation is diverse and challenging. Our nurse-to-patient ratios are veryattractive and Licensed Nursing Assistants are also part of our collaborativeteam.


 
Purpose:

Ensurescoordination of patient care through the development and use of practicestandards. Serves as a clinical expert providing analytical support to thenursing leadership to plan and predict patient care needs based on qualitybenchmarking, research, education and practice.

 
Responsibilities:

1. Designs,coordinates, integrates and evaluates nursing care for assigned units(s) toensure optimal patient outcome. Performs or oversees the collection of holisticassessments. Carries a caseload of patients and provides care at the point ofcare.
2. Collaborates with unit leadership to create an environment that facilitatesand improves patient care delivery. Synthesizes data, information and knowledgeto evaluate and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
3. Ensures that patients and families are well-informed and included in careplanning.
4. Provides leadership in the educational needs of patients and families anddevelops the clinical expertise of staff. Provides formal and informaleducational opportunities on the unit to improve clinical skills of all staff.
5. Recommends specific programming to build clinical skill set of staff.Provides input and feedback to Manager related to evaluation and competency ofstaff.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

 


Minimum Qualifications:
Master of Science degree in Clinical Nurse Leader or a post Master certificate for Clinical Nurse Leader.
3 years of experience in nursing with evidence of clinical competency in specialty area.
Affiliation with professional organizations strongly recommended.
Demonstrated leadership in patient care and outcomes.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of New Hampshire.
Certification in Clinical Nurse Leader.
